Hearing His Voice

Does God speak to us? Yes..He is always speaking and revealing new things to us. Learning to hear His voice and follow His leading has been the focus of my life for the last 35 years. What better way to live than to follow Him and receive all the things He has intended for our lives. The living God who created the universe has a unique path for each of us.

Do you doubt that? I believe we all do. One of the things that has helped me is to look back on my life. If I look carefully I can see the way one thing led to another. I can see how the pieces of my life fit together like an amazing puzzle. One piece by itself does not make sense.. but put them all together and you have a picture of God’s faithfulness.

Another practice that encourages me.. is to look around my home. In every room and on every wall are gifts from God. We purchased a few things, but most of it was given to us..God’s abundance is so visible. I am very visual and love beauty..God knows that ..we have views from every window in our condo. Nothing is an accident or coincidence.. it is all part of the story that God has written for my life.

I encourage you to begin to look for the places in your life where God is speaking to you..revealing His goodness. He wants you to know that you are the apple of His eye and that He loves you more than you can ever imagine. His arms are open wide.. longing to embrace you and fill you with everything you need to continue.

He is speaking.. listen.. it is the still small voice that only says wonderful things to you!

“See! I have not forgotten you..I have carved you on the palm of my hand.”

  1. Great post Alicia. I needed to hear this as I feel I am in a transitional period of my life. I have a confession to make; I’ve been unemplyed for large chunks of my life and at my age I wonder whether I will ever get a decent job or do something with my life. If I am honest, all I want to do is write and become a successful author; that’s all I want!

I’ve struggled with depression too; sometimes through gritted teeth I see the beauty of God’s creation whilst I am in the gutter so to speak. I don’t know which way to turn to be honest; but I expect that goes for loads of us really.

  2. Thanks for your honesty Tim. God has a plan for you.. even if you cannot see it right now. Keep seeking Him.. that is what I am doing. This period of my life is very challenging..the future is not making sense.. but I know that He is my safe place and in His time things will be different. Perseverance is the word my friend!!

  3. How strange, Alicia, I put a post on my blog http://www.lighthousevision.blogspot.com yesterday called ‘Listening for God’s voice – unconditional love’. I agree absolutely that God speaks to us, and often accompanies His word with signs that we will understand. I have been a christian for thirty years, but experienced God’s love through my father’s faith when I was a child and my father’s prayer brought physical healing to my body, and also through what people call a ‘near death experience when I was twenty eight.

    • I’m glad we were writing about this at the same time Brenda. God was speaking to both of us to share something so important. Many believers seems to have forgotten that He has spoken, is speaking and will speak forever. They don’t look for those ways He is personally revealing things in their lives.. how sad. Let’s continue to share the ways we hear Him and inspire others to seek that same experience.
      Blessings,
      Alicia

  4. Hi Alicia,
Just read your read your reply and also your reply to Tim, in which you say ‘the future is not making sense.’ It makes no sense whatsoever to the carnal mind because the carnal mind only predicts a future according to what it believes is possible. The Bible tells us to take no thought for tomorrow’ and this was emphasized to me recently when I bought a cd called ‘Love is a four letter word’, in which was a track ‘Living in the moment’. we live in the moment as Christians and leave our future to God. That has proved to be the best thing I ever did since becoming a Christian. God’s perfect love casts out all fear, and he only has our welfare in His heart. All things are possible with Him, and He knows all our needs, physical and spiritual.
    God bless

  5. Thanks Brenda.. I agree totally. It is only my own inability to see the future that is the problem. God is already there and preparing me for whatever He has in mind. I appreciate your insights and encouragement.
