February 1st

The beginning of a new month. I don’t know about you, but I breathe a sigh of relief when January is over. It is the winter month..too cold and dreary for me. I’m usually tired.. worn out from the holidays. This new month will usher in the beginning of the spring season.. Spring officially starts in March..but we will get glimpses of flowering trees and a few early bloomers will raise their sleepy heads..looking for the sun.

Winter seasons can be long..filled with lots of waiting and wondering. Will the sun ever come again? How much colder can it get? How long Lord? How long? We have winters in our lives that can last years..seasons when we fail to understand what God is doing. Seasons when the darkness goes on so long..we stop looking for the light. During those times.. He is doing deep things in our character. We are being prepared for the spring season..when we will see the fruit of all the trials and suffering.

We were created for the light..not darkness. It is natural to hope for the day when the sun shines again and the skies are blue. Our hearts long for the warmth of His presence and the assurance  of His love for us. We wait and hope and trust..reminding ourselves that He is faithful. He sees all this and collects our tears..feels our pain and brings reassurance to our thirsty spirits.

Remember that He is doing a new thing today..at this very moment He is preparing to shower blessings into your life. He is for you and He is with you.

“I will bless my people and their homes around my holy hill. And in the proper season I will send the showers they need. There will be showers of blessing.”

  1. Hi Alicia,
Thank you for this reminder. Even in the winter storms, He is preparing us for spring. Truly we are created for light and not darkness, and when we keep our focus on Him, we are reassured that the light is there, just hidden behind the dark clouds.
    Blessings, Sarah

  2. Thanks Sarah.. I am finding this winter to be a true healing season.. you’ll see what I am mean when you read the next post. The darkness is no fun..but necessary.
