Reconciliation

This word has been on my mind lately. One website defines it as the “restoration of harmony.” What a beautiful picture of a very important concept. I am wired for harmony..it is like music to my soul. When we are estranged from one another..there is no harmony..no peace..no closure. Of course there are times when reconciliation is not  possible..it would open the door to unhealthy relationships and bring unnecessary grief.

Fortunately that is not always the case and often we can facilitate reconciliation by being willing to help people understand one another..a great assignment when God gives it to us. The tricky part is knowing when it is from Him and when it is our own discomfort that prompts us to act. I have been on both sides of that fence. When I act out of my own desires it never works..when God is at the helm and He directs my steps.. anything can happen.

After all He is the God who gave His life for reconciliation. He came for us. He is the reconciler..the one who is able to do the impossible..to bring harmony and peace in the darkest circumstances. Our hearts are linked to His and His heart is for those around us..what a perfect  place to rest.

“All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other.”
