God gave us time..

That is the beginning of a quote that I ran across online. ” God gave us time so that everything wouldn’t happen all at once.” I love it and it made me laugh. God is not in time and we are. He doesn’t need to be apparently but this quote makes a good point..doesn’t it? We  need time.. to process..to learn..to grow..to get ready..to be sure..to decide..to live. Time is a good thing. If everything happened when we wanted it to happen we would be overwhelmed and we would not be prepared.

When I think about those seasons that lasted too long..I realize that if they ended sooner I would not have appreciated everything that followed. God’s timing is a mystery. How often do we write our own script for our lives..our own timeline..coming up with all types of deadlines. I have always tended toward deadlines..being a planner and fixer I love to see things come to completion. God doesn’t need to because He already knows the end of the story. He is not rushing ahead to find out how things will turn out.

I am truly grateful that everything is not happening all at once. What a picture that conjures up..imagine all your trials and all your joys piled up all around you. No..in His wisdom God spreads everything out over our lifetimes.. until the time when we join Him in a place where time does not matter. He is gracious and compassionate as He teaches us through every new experience and renews our hope as we rely on Him.

So rejoice in your present circumstances and remember that everything is happening at exactly the right time in your life. He is never late and never forgets!!

“Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing,  yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you.”
