Comfortable Faith?

It sounds good..doesn’t it? Let’s live a life of faith and be comfortable at the same time. That way we don’t have to give up anything and we get all the benefits. We will feel safe and sound..everything will be orderly with no interruptions. Our plans will unfold perfectly..just the way we imagined they would.

These are the thoughts the Israelites had as they journeyed across the wilderness. Let’s go back to Egypt where we know the source of our next meal.. the predictable life that we knew so well. They were ready to return to slavery..because it was familiar. They were miserable in Egypt but that was forgotten. Their journey through the wilderness was too difficult..too challenging..too surprising. God was with them..leading them..feeding them..guiding them. They did not see..they were blind to His provision and His deliverance.

Are we the same way ? Complaining..forgetting..desiring a more comfortable life. God is calling us to continue with Him. To remember His goodness. To journey all the way to the promised land while He provides and cares for us. He is asking us to see Him in our circumstances..to recognize His fingerprints on our lives.

We can learn many lessons from history..especially Biblical history. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be like the Israelites in the desert. I want  to live this life of faith being aware of all the amazing things that God is doing. Anything we leave behind in this life is nothing compared to living life with God. A faith filled life that is unpredictable and exciting..a life that God has prepared for us since the beginning of time.

“For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.”

  1. Thank you Alicia for this post.
It reaffirms what he has been saying to me today! If we just look over His shoulder, we can see from His perspective that He has indeed prepared our lives for us since before the beginning of time.
    Blessings, Sarah

  2. It helps so much doesn’t it? Realizing that everything is really under control..not ours.. but His. Sometimes that is the only thing getting me through the day!

    Blessings..Sarah.
