January is the month for this. Businesses do it..finding out what they have..getting rid of the old and bringing in the new. It is a great time for us to do the same thing…let’s take inventory of our lives. What are we carrying around that we can leave behind? Old desires that are unhealthy..relationships that no longer fit us..disappointment..disillusionment..regret and bitterness have to go as well.
In order for the new to come in..we need to make room. If our closest is stuffed with old clothes and shoes that we never wear..we can’t find a place for the new things that God has for us. He wants to dress us in beautiful new clothes..with colors that take our breath away. He wants to shower us with blessings that we could never dream or imagine. If our hands are full He can’t fill them with these amazing gifts..He is waiting for us to let go..to trust Him to fill that closet with surprises.
If we cling to the old..we tie His Hands. He is always doing a new thing and it cannot happen unless we make room for it..to do this we must trust His heart. Is it good? Will He come through? Does He knows the desire of my heart? The enemy of our soul is working overtime right now to convince us that it is too late, it is taking too long, that He does not care. Don’t give up right before God does that new thing in your life. When you feel the most discouraged..it is a sign that He is about to move. Many people give up and fold up and miss the blessing. Trust Him.
“But forget all that–it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See I have already begun! Do you not see it?”
Hi Alicia,
Are you sure you didn’t write this for me? This is just what I needed to hear today. What a wonderful blessing to see you put His reassurance into words, for a lot more people than just me, I’m sure:)
Blessings, Sarah
