Think on these things..

This is the beginning of a verse that reminds us to think about those things that focus us on the goodness of God. He wants us to to think about what He has done for be grateful and thankful. We are not naturally that way. It is easier to look at what we don’t have than to apprecitate what we do have. Our human nature is not easily satisfied.. always longing for something more. God knows our dilemma that’s why He tells us to be dwell on those things that are true and lovely.

What things is He talking about? The truth that He is always for us.. that we are not forgotten..that our desires matter to Him..that He is our provider..that He is close to the brokenhearted. If we remember these things we can learn to rejoice in our present circumstances. As we are thankful for what we do have..for who we are..for where we are in our journey..our spirits will be lifted. We will find it easier to believe. Life here is not easy..there are challenges that face us daily and we are often worn out and tired. God knows all this. He is not offering a simple answer or a platitude. He is giving us a that will help us survive the trials and tests. Be grateful..remember My goodness..Stay close to Me. Don’t worry about anything. Instead pray about everything.

“Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me–everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.”

  1. Hi Alicia! This posting was especially good for me today! Can you believe that I totally forgot (FORGOT!) that my classes started again this week?! So I had to be humble and ask my boss and co-workers if they could help me figure out a new schedule – at the last possible moment. I prayed that a solution could be found and that I would be able to attend the classes I’d registered for….. and YES! God is good! He cares about my desire to become a medical assistant! My boss, while not happy with all this last minute wrangling, has helped me with my schedule and now I am back at COM, taking classes Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays! The positive outworking of this situation has definitely encouraged me to “think on these things”!! Lots of love to you!

  2. Thanks for sharing that Liz. Your story is great as a reminder of how we see Him at work on our behalf. Never forgetting us..always ahead of us.. so glad it all worked out.
