When a season is ending the picture I enjoy using is a page turning. Life is a story that is being told. When we move from one season to another it is as though we are turning the page. We have chapters in our life that revolve around specific events or challenges. If there is a very dramatic change we feel like we are in a brand new story.
When we read a book, unless we cheat, we don’t know the ending. We read page by page..looking forward to what is coming next. Our interest in the next chapter keeps us moving forward..how will it all turn out? When the book is a novel we identify with the characters and we become part of the story. The story of our lives can be just as amazing as a good novel. We live in a larger story that God has written. Stories of those who have gone before us are available in the book. Stories of fellow strugglers..pioneers of the faith..people just like us..imperfect..fearful..doubtful..and insecure. Yet they persevered and God met them time and time again.
Their stories and ours are intertwined in a greater story..one with an amazingly happy ending. The story of the redemption of the world. The story of God’s overcoming it all for us. The story of the Kingdom of God coming to earth. The story of God interrupting history to bring us to Himself and promising that we will never be separated from Him. What a story that is!
If your present page or chapter is difficult..be hopeful..keep trusting..pray for faith..remember that you are included in the larger story..He is both the author and the hero of that story.
” The Kingdom of God can’t be detected by visible signs. You won’t be able to say ‘Here it is!’ or ‘It’s over there!’ For the Kingdom of God is already among you.”
