Funny how these things pop up. They may be just under the surface and suddenly something triggers a memory. Slowing down..taking time..not rushing around..being quiet..listening..allowing old emotions to come to surface. A necessary practice if we are going to receive healing. God is the one behind this process. He wants to restore us and rebuild us and the way He does this is often through memories of old hurts and wounds. The last thing we want to do is to feel old pain from past hurts..can’t we just forget about it? Eventually.. but first we need to feel the pain and remember the way it happened..to cry and to grieve.
Are you making time for this process in your life? If not then the old things will continue to eat away at you. All emotions that are buried are buried alive. Our God has the answer for this. He wants to open the old wound and drain all the poison out so that we can heal fully. He is not one to put band-aids on open wounds. His healing goes deep into all the unreachable places in our heart. His goal is to make us as whole as possible while we are here. He brings healing to the brokenhearted and sets the captives free.
So why would you embrace this process? Isn’t easier to just keep going and keep busy and forget it?.. after all the past is the past. Not really.. the past is part of the present..it was your path to where you are right now.. it holds the keys to a more fulfilling future. This healing process is challenging and yet the rewards are amazing. You will be able to live fully..to respond instead of react..to forgive more easily..to dream again..to embrace life. He is with you and He wants to bring healing to all the wounded places in your heart..Trust Him.
“He will be gracious if you ask for help..He will surely respond to the sound of your cries..He will be with you to teach you.”
