Fear is only one obstacle. Another one that comes to mind is our perception of God. We often see Him as much smaller than He is. He may have been put in a box by messages we have heard about Him. He is often misrepresented by those who seem to know Him so well. If that is the case than we lose heart because it begins to seem like so much depends on us. Our role is so big and overwhelming.. our focus on ourselves overshadows our ability to see Him clearly.
How big is your God? How much of your life is dependent upon your own abilities? These two things go hand in hand. Since we are talking about the Creator of the Universe than maybe we should take another look. He set the heavens in place.. everything on the earth was created by Him,..He gives you your breath everyday.. and He knows every hair on your head. He is the beginning and the end. He is the giver of all good gifts. He is our provider.. Jehovah Jireh.. His ways are not our ways.. He is the way.. He is our all in all.
We sing songs about Him in church and read about Him in the Bible.. but somewhere along the way we forget that it is all true. Sometimes we disqualify ourselves.. God is able.. but not with me. This is a familiar refrain of Christians.. we entertain unbelief like it is an old friend. That is the time to pray.. not to judge ourselves or fold up.. to pray for faith and grace to believe our Amazing God is with us..to believe that He is able to do all things well.
Whatever He is calling you to do.. He will provide and equip you. He is not sending you out in front..alone and unprotected do to do things for Him. He is leading you..ahead of you..preparing the way for you..protecting you..providing for you..watching your every step..ready to catch you if you fall.
We worship an awesome God. Take a look at the stories in the Old Testament. They are real stories about real people. They are in the book for a reason. He is the same God today as He was then.. He does not change.
” Don’t be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
