Is Desire a Bad Word?

I’m leaping forward into an area very related to waiting.. Desire. Without it there would be no waiting. Desire is at the root of everything.. it is the road to God. Without desire we would not long for more.. which often means we are longing for what only God can give us.

We may have been taught to fight our desires. We may have heard that our desires were not good. We may have believed that our desires and God’s were totally different. We may be believing a lie. As believers who follow God.. He lives in our hearts and He the one who plants His desires there. Yes.. I know there are times we want something that is not from Him.. but He can show us the difference as we pray. Our relationship with Him is the key. Let’s not kill our own hearts because we are afraid of the desires that live there..

” He has given us a new heart and a new mind. “

Look inside your heart and see what desires are living there.. Ask God for faith to believe that He will show you does not belong there. Ask Him to help you have faith for the good things that have not yet happened.  Be good to your own heart!  It is God’s dwelling place !

  1. “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart” Ps 37:4

    Psalm 103
    1 Praise the LORD, O my soul;
    all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
    2 Praise the LORD, O my soul,
    and forget not all his benefits-

    3 who forgives all your sins
    and heals all your diseases,

    4 who redeems your life from the pit
    and crowns you with love and compassion,

    5 who satisfies your desires with good things
    so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

    No, desire is indeed not a bad word. Thanks Alicia!!

  2. Thanks for posting that Merrill.. it is exactly the scripture I was thinking about when I wrote that post. I love the fact that God gives us His desires.. How amazing is that?
